Re: Question About Auto Hubs/Shift Motor Interface
The answer to your question is no, they are not connected to either electrical switches or vacuum lines. The thing that engages the front auto hubs is the action of the front axle turning. The shift motor is attached to the transfer case, and when you push the button it engages the front axle, causing it to turn, which in turn, engages the front hubs, which stay engaged until you switch it to off, which stops the front drive axle from turning. The front hubs stay engaged until you reverse direction in 2wd long enough to disengage the hubs(they say 10 feet, but that depends on how well they're working. Very well maintained ones will only take 2 or 3).
