Default Is it worth it ?

I have a 2004 Ford Ranger XLT. My main problem with it is its an automatic transmission. Thats mainly my old man's fault. He was trying to convince me it wasn't worth it. How all his old cars and trucks were sticks and they were pains in the ass etc. I still want a manual. Would it be worth it to convert it from a 5spd auto to a 5sp manaul >?

If you want it that badly it is. I have seen it done a few times. Seen one other go the other way as well.

You're looking at quite a bit of work, and some bucks too. I'd consider finding a donor for most of what you'll need at a wrecking yard, tranny, clutch pedal & brackets to go with it. There's no linkage to speak of, since it's a hydraulic clutch. If you do a lot of stop & go city driving you might be better off just running her as is.

money wise and time wise sell your truck and get what you want. but if you don't what to go that way a sway can be done. get the tranny computer peddles and peddle brakets as well as driveshaft all from a donor truck then sell your tranny to help cover the cost. i would also get a new steering wheel trim... to replace your PRND12 shifter, the lable in the cluster can be taken out really easy

Ten Franklins would be about right for parts, still quite a bit of work.

Thanks guys. I think I am just going to buy a new ranger. This way everything will be the way I wanted from the ground up.
