Default 91 2.3l timing belt

Timing belt broke and am working on it in the driveway with 105 heat index.

a few questions

1) does the crank pulley have to come off? I dont seem to have a socket big enough and what size is it if it does have to come off

2) I have the crank at tc on the cover and the cam dirrectly on the point when looking thru the peep hole on the cover. How do you line the oil pump up... i am not seeing any marks

all help appreciated
jason

you just have to losen the belt tensioner and you should be able to get the belt on with out taking the crank pully off

and for markings just make sure the valve timing mark is alligned with the pointer on the engine case i would reccomend you buy a haynes manual for this job because you can totally mess up an engine pretty bad if your timing is not right and i feel your pain on the working in the driveway when its 100+ out i was out all day working on mine and now my back looks like a lobster

oh and i dont see anything about oil pump timing im pretty sure thats just constant movement

i have looked at several manuals, and all the manuals say to set it at tdc so that is where it is at now. Now i just need to get a belt and get it on and see what it does. the cam pulley is set up to the point where you can see thru the peep hole on the cover.

I cant find anything about the oil pump pulley timing, my mechanic buddy said to have the key pointed at 12 o clock.

so should know within the next few hours if it runs or not. going to try and get the belt in without pulling the crankshaft pulley but am thinking it will probably be coming out. anyone know what size head the bolt is?

On the 2.5 Lima, it's 22mm, that's the best answer I can give you. Sorry.
