Default 96 ranger 5 speed trans question

Ok i know there are alot of threads on this and i have looked them up and read them. Just i have a different case because ive replaced all components in the trans clutch setup.

Im having issues getting into first from and stop and also others.

A yeah ago I personally replaced the slave cylinder master and clutch because i lost the pedal and said screw it might as well do it all because im dropping trans anyways.

Well im kinda ticked off im having issues again. Its actually strange because its inconsistent. Sometims it works better then other times.

The clutch pedal has decent pressure and the clutch dont start engaging till inch or so out from floor and has good travel through out releasing the pedal and the clutch engaging. Which makes me feel like my system is ok.

Could it be trans fluid? I believe i used dex 5 when replacing fluid. Ive heard of synchronizer been talked about just unfamiliar with what it does exactly. Could it be that?

Like i said its just hard to get into gears at times. Always feels sticky, once rolling, 3rd 4th and 5th seem to go in decently.

Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated thank you!

Try to push the clutch all the way to the floor and put it in reverse does it grind at a stop or feel excessively tight? If so I bet you still have air in the hydraulic lines, these systems are a bitch to bleed in the truck. Perfection clutch has a video on YouTube about the rangers clutch hydraulic system and how to bleed it properly air gets trapped in the back of the master cylinder by where the pushrod goes in and causes the clutch to drag. My 94 had similar issues before I sold it the issue was the hydraulic system and I had the same symptoms as you do now. They would go away with bleeding the clutch and it was even better after I switched to pennzoil synchromesh fluid. Many people are going to knock me for saying this but i had nothing but good results from it. Please update if you need any more assistance

Ps if the issue happens only while driving it's syncros if it happens while stationary and driving it's a clutch dragging issue. All a synchronizer does is speed up or slow down the input shaft to the speed of the output shaft in the transmission making gear changes easier

Thanks guys, yeah that’s exactly what its doing. Sitting at a stop if i go to reverse is grinds. So sounds like i still have air in the system. Also i may switch the trans fluid to pennziol synchromesh or the merc III.

Is there anyway to bleed the system with it in or do i gotta pull the damn master cylinder out again and line? which that line was a bitch to get over the frame rail.

There is a way to do it but it's kind of a bitch to do, I would take the snap ring out of the master cylinder in the cab and pull the push rod back until a little fluid came out then put it all back together. I recommend trying to vacuume bleed it first, or try gravity bleeding then go to either my method or pull it out and bleed it like perfection clutch ( a little tip: if the brake fluid bottle gets shook up or agitated too much it holds little air bubbles in the fluid making bleeding almost impossible, the same also happens if you push the pedal too fast while bleeding) I'll try to find. Video describing my bleeding method for you

Thank you for the info! Going to gravity bleed it today then try pulling the master plunger if gravity dont help. If nothing else ill pull the whole system again and bench bleed.

I feel like it almost has to be the air in line if its hard to get in gear from a stop, and grinds going into reverse. Wouldnt you guys agree?
