hello I have a 99 ranger with the vacuum pulse activators which don't work. I want to keep it stock and I cant find these parts anywhere so I was wondering if I could just swap out the front drive unit with a newer one that had the same thing,. But how new can I go?

The vacuum hubs aren't working, you mean? Have you chased the vacuum lines back to the unit that controls them near the passenger front wheel?

no the hubs don't work. i would like to swap out the hole thing with something newer. so i could find parts for it if need be.

I just did a 2001 and newer (live axle swap) on my 98 4x4. I use 2001 cv shafts and wheel bearing. Everything bolted up and works fine.
