So my brakes started to squeal this week. Picked up some pads and proceeded to put in new pads.
Got passenger side front tire off and couldnt believe what i saw. Bottom bolt that allows caliper to hinge open wasn`t there at all.
Now the spring bolt at bottom is seized and I cant fit two new pads... Only one... Have only had a few months so ford is gonna be fixing this one....
Anyone know if i can replace that spring on caliper....

Yep. The bottom one that you remove so it can flop open wasnt there.
Crazy, But now the part it screws into wont plunge in so i can get caliper over new pads... argh

How To: Replace front brake pads

So were you missing same bolt? I am not sure how long it has been missing...
And don't know if the piece with the plunger can be replaced. If not need a new caliper...
But I use channel locks and just squeeze the pistons in...other side went fine but cant get plunger to push in so caliper can close with two new pads...sucks!

Mine came out going down the road.

It can be fixed. Had to replace the caliper mounting bracket on mine a couple weeks ago. lower slide pin seized in place, couldn't get it back together with new pads. Tried to break it free, but nothing worked, so eventually i just broke it.



Can get new parts at Autozone for about $35 bucks I think it was.


Made sure to lube it up good. (if you love her, lube her!)


Pretty much put back together.


Oh, and loctite is your friend!!
