Ford Explorer axle swap
hey guys, I plan on swapping my rear end out for a rear end out of a ford explorer.
I have a 2000 Ford Ranger automatic, 4X4 off-road, extended cab with an 8.8
so, i am going to try and find an 8.8 in the junkyard to swap
any tips or tricks or things to be mindful of? I've never done an axle swap before but am pretty confident with my level of mechanical knowledge.
and the reason I am doing this swap is because I have had a plethora of problems revolving around my differential, and it is just one problem after another, and I can put my finger on it and I cant keep spending money to temporarily fix it, basically my wheel bearings constantly go out and after replacing the clutch pack and spider gears I still continue to squeal wheels around turns, might as well have a welded diff with this problem.
also, if i swap for an explorer axle is that wider than the ranger axle? and should I go ahead and swap out both axles?
