Default 99 Ranger 4.0L. Trans question

I have a 99 Ford Ranger 4.0L 4WD that needs a clutch. This will be the second clutch in less than a year. I don't know if the first one was put in incorrectly or what.

The 4WD front drive shaft was not installed when the previous clutch was installed so I don't use the 4WD. I don't care about the 4WD, it's my daily driver to from work in Florida.

My question is would it be possible to get an auto trans from salvage yard and replace the 5 spd with an Auto trans?

If so, what is involved and what if any ECU issues would I have ?

Thanks

You have ecu differences, also steering columns and wiring harnesses.
So the questions becomes what brand of clutch did get put in and also did you replace or resurface the flywheel and change the pilot bearing
