4WD front axle end parts question
Not sure what my question(s) is/are so lemme start here:
I have a 94 Ranger Splash 4x4 4.0L. It was converted from auto to manual locking hubs several years ago. The truck has been sitting for awhile until last week. I was replacing the calipers today and noticed that on the passenger side axle end, the spline, that there was a plastic retaining ring and spring clip snapped into place between the spindle conversion kit (required when converting from auto to manual) and the spline. On the driver side however, these two pieces are missing allowing the axle to move back into the hub about 3/4 of an inch.
The 4x4 does not work. After reading through many of the posts here and following up on your suggestions, I've come to the conclusion that the transfer case motor is bad (it looks like hell anyway), but that will get fixed soon enough. Thank you all for that.
So I guess my question is: Am I gonna blow the front axle without those two pieces and does anyone know if those pieces are part of the spindle conversion kit or part of the original axle set-up.
EDIT:The two parts are an Axle Shaft Snap Ring and Spacer or V-Seal - not sure. Found the snap ring and V-Seal at Quad4x4.com but need to do more research to make sure they are the correct parts.
Still would appreciate any info you guys may want to add..
Its a WARN hub kit and the spindle conversion kit is part number 32720. the WARN site is not a lot of help.
Sorry for such a long post and thanks in advance.
