NOW my new custom ones with the sliding yolk allows that movement that you say shouldnt be there. That the front end can actually move and not locked in by a one solid piece drive shaft, it rides like a dream. Even off road.
There is nothing that moves.... The transfer case is bolted solid and the diff is bolted solid.... Slip yoke or other that driveshaft has absolutely no movement aside from spinning.... This isn't a solid axle truck where it has to move. It's ifs.... There's no movement.... Where the hell are you getting the idea that it is moving?! The rear one, yeah it moves because the rear diff moves. The front one doesn't.

But all 4wd rangers from like 99 on up are solid axles and so have a floating diff.

That is an IFS. With way overcranked torsion bars.

The front axle bolts up in 3 spots on top of the pumpkin.

Also just having lifting keys without any drop brackets is why your truck drives so rough. It is also why your driveshaft went.

----------

I was also told that if I did not see a "joint" where the axle meets the diff that it is a solid axle. Which would mean it is not IFS.

So if it is IFS and just trying to learn here. First, I have always understood that if the torsion bars were over cranked the ride and steering would be crap. And I will admit it was at first. Once I replaced the shocks, added shock extenders and finally swapped the drive shaft to a double helix, it rides so much better.

Second, How can you tell they are over cranked. I am not real good at the different parts on suspension, but I am assuming the long straight bar going from the rear to the front is the torsion bar. It looks straight. Is it supposed to be up? Down? what?
Sorry we are cranky and get annoyed too easily. Sometimes we forget that we can actually teach people who want to learn

I added to my other post so you can read that. Your truck still rides like crap compared to a stock or properly lifted ranger.

The previous owner put lifting keys and cranked them all the way up. That is bad and will cause premature wear on all your front end components. If you want a real lift then you need to get rid of that stuff and buy a superlift.

Your front suspension shouldn't look like this /--\.

Yes the long straight bar is a torsion bar and we can tell it is over cranked because of the extreme angle of your lower control arm

You mean like the ten other posts I tried to tell you it was ifs and didnt move...... Sorry but I will only repeat myself a few times before coming in with an immature comment, especially when you come into my thread and provide zero input to the topic at hand lol.

Back on topic, I learnt there is a transfer case control module in the passenger side kick panel, I'm gonna pull that out and see if there's issues with wiring.

I think this applies to the tangent:

Anyways, back on topic. Hopefully that holds your answer Rath. I was lucky enough that a simple motor swap fixed my issues, hopefully its as simple, if different, repair for you.
