I have a 1998 Ranger 4wd I just bought. I have not tested the 4wd yet, but while on the lift I noticed something odd. When I spin the front wheels manually, the axle shaft spins on one side but not the other? This is while it is in 2wd. Doesn't seem right to me. Spin or no spin?

1998 had PVH hubs that were disconnected while in 2wd, but were actuated via vacuum when the 4wd switch was flipped. These weren't very reliable and are often replaced with manual hubs.

The cv should not be linked to the hub while in 2wd.

I guess I should test the 4wd to see if it's working first. Just got the truck and have not had a chance to tinker with it yet.
