Hi,

I have a 92' Ranger XLT with 2.9 V6 and touch drive 4WD.

Do I have the Dana 28 or Dana 35 front axle. I tried to figure out on my own. But I'm not sure. Thanks

I crawled under the truck to see what Dana front axle I have. I found a number underneath. But I am not sure.

But I think I found it in the owner manual. It says

Front Axle

Dana 35 front axle (4X4 only)

I have touch drive 4WD. It says nothing else for front axle. So I guess this definitively says my front axle is Dana 35?

take a pic of the front diff, we might be able to verify that based upon the bolt pattern. Some units came with hybrid units, dana 35 with Dana 28 internals or something to that effect.. be best to dbl check than assume

The easiest way to check to see if your Dana 35, has Dana 28 "Guts", is to pull the fill plug out from the front. If you can see the main cap, you have the Dana 28 guts (Sorry!). If you can see the end of the carrier, you have "The Real Thing".
