Default Dorman A4LD/4R44E Transmission Pan w/ Drain Plug

Is anyone else on the boards running one of these in their truck? I recently installed one in my '96 2WD, keeping in mind this pan is designated for 4wd w/ the extra hump I did also purchase the correct 4wd filter kit for it. For me so far no issues, fit perfect and seems like pretty good quality. It's got a nice coat of black paint inside and out and the drain plug seals nicely. I installed it with an AZ/Duralast filter kit, was a bit skeptical about the cheesy looking rubber/neoprene? gasket but after I torqued the bolts properly it's been bone dry under there. I did originally order the MC kit off RA but they sent me the wrong kit. Truck has 187k miles on it, unkown service history so dropped the original pan/filter and refilled it with maxlife dex/merc. Plan on doing a drain/fill again later on this year to change out more of the fluid.

The only thing I don't care for is the paint on the inside. Seen so many problems with flaking paint not just with aftermarket but OEM pans. Chrysler has a lot of issues. Additives play hell on the paint also transmission fluid will find a crack in the paint and start to creep under lifting the paint. Most of the time from a dent or around the drain from over tightening the plug will fracture the paint. If I use these type pans I take paint remover, or sand blast to the inside to remove the coating. Just my experience your outcome my differ.

Thanks for the insight, I didn't think much about the paint inside it. But now that you mention that, I recently did a filter change on my wife's mkV Jetta 2.5 (09G) and the pan on those has a black finish inside/out, never heard of any problems with the paint coming off of them and there's plenty of these w/ over 200k on them. I was very skeptical with this one because of the price, but it's pretty robust and doesn't leak a drop.
