Default Issues with clutch

Hi there! I looked at other threads before posting this but didn't see anything related to my issue. I just bought my second Ford ranger . This one a 93 2.3 5spd. The clutch pedal felt a little off on my way home so I go to take a look at it and the master cylinder is just flowing fluid out of it. So I replaced the master cylinder, bled the clutch, and now it's like I can't get the clutch pedal down far enough to engage the clutch and put it into gear. Any ideas? Did I forget something silly?

Hi do you mean with the clutch pedal on the floor you cannot disengage the clutch to shift gears?
Does the clutch pedal feel normal after replacing the master cylinder?

Can you shift gears easily with the engine off?

If the pedal doesn't feel right and spring back properly or if it doesn't seem to have engough resistance you may not have got all the air bled properly.

If you think this is the case you will find plenty of threads here on properly bleeding the Ranger master and slave cylinder.

It feels soft for maybe half an inch then good pressure. I'll try re bleeding it tonight. And no the gears don't shift easily with the car off. Can't start it right now either. Did the bypass for the clutch switch and wires the two wires together and when I try to start it the starter doesn't engage at all I only get a clunk noise coming from near the big starter/ignition relay on the firewall. I already replaced that and still getting the clunk

Bled it again and again. Still can't get it into any gear when it's turned on. Slave cylinder messed up? No matter how long I bleed it it still has bubbles.

Them clutches are a PITA to bleed. I had to use a vacuum bleeder and hooked it to the bleeder on the slave cyl. at the trans. You want to draw fluid from the master cyl. reservoir and not let it go dry or run out of fluid. do this until you get only fluid.

You have to pull the clutch line from pedal to bell housing / slave to bleed it correctly. Removing inner fender well makes getting the line out much easier.

Once you have it removed hang the line from wire, twine or something so the line hangs vertically. Master at top & slave connection at bottom. It takes a while but it will work. You got to work past the bends by tapping the line or shifting the line so a bent area goes vertical.

How are you bleeding the clutch? It sounds like you are somehow entraining air into the system if you keep getting bubbles coming out.
