Recommended CV Axles
Im planning on replacing both of my front 2 CV axles when I replace my seals and inner cv bearings and I dont know what brand to go with, this is my first 4x4 vehicle so I have no knowledge of good axle companys besides Yukon and G2 which are really expensive, I want a good budget axle, I was looking at NAPA axles ( New ones not reman ) but napa is napa sometimes there good and some times there bad and look in on Amazon theres a high rated brand called GSP and they are $61 each with prime, but Im open to any opinions on what brand to get and why do you recommend that brand ?

Re: Recommended CV Axles
NAPA = Cardone Select or A1. You can buy that stuff from Rockauto for cheap, but......if you compare the cheap china to the OEM motorcraft you'll understand why. And when you look at OEM Motorcraft replacements and see that the RH half shaft retails for.......$602 but Rock sells it for $450, you'll see red.
So with those choices, IMO, I'd either look for a very low mile wreck and grab those half shafts, or (and most likly) have someone rebuild what I've got, making sure that the new parts used are good (not all are the same, for example, count bellows on the OEM ford part and then the chinkanese Cardone "new" part). You'll get the idea.

Well my front right might be making some noise or its the inner bear making noise, so I wanted to get some new CVs I almost never use 4x4 but I know the axles are in use rather or not you use it and no one around here rebuilds CVs they only replace them and I cant find any rangers around here in the yards that are my similar model and that are 4x4 for that matter so hard to find a ranger in the scrap yard period unless its the old ones like 97 or older

I'm running the "precision" brand from o'reillys. Like 60 bucks and I've had no problems with them, and they definitely get used.

Could shop around for a GOOD reman using OEM cores and GOOD rebuild parts, or send yours out for rebuilding, or get a set of cores and send them out for rebuilding (inserting period here, makes reading easier) If you buy a $45 *new* Cardone Select, and when it arrives, lay it down next to the OEM Ford half shaft and compare the differences between them, you'll understand why I have a NIB half shaft in my basement as a paper weight (I wish someone would buy the thing).

Re: Recommended CV Axles
I bought the GSPs from Amazon. I've had them in for 4 months, used them off road, in the snow, and they work quite well. The only issue I had was that the casing is unpainted and there was surface rust on them a week or so after I put them in; then I had to scrub and paint them. So my advice is whatever you get, if they're shiny, paint them before you install them.

Re: Recommended CV Axles
The one company I'd say avoid is called "power line." Their stuff is shit and they won't stand behind it.
