Hi Gang,

I haven't been on here for a while, but I'll try to make more frequent visits. Anyway, I'm having a problem with my 4x4 that started out intermittent and now does it all the time. The problem I'm talking about is shifting from 2 HI to 4 HI or 4 LO and back again. When driving and shifting into 4 HI from 2 HI, I can hear the relays in the dash clicking, but only sometimes does the 4x4 light on the dash come on and it goes into 4x4. Sometimes a grinding noise can be heard under the truck. Again, once I want to go back into 2 HI, I'll hear the relays click and, either it will go to 2 HI ok and the 4x4 light goes out, or it will return to 2 HI but the 4x4 light stays on and the system becomes inoperative. To solve the inop problem, I have to pull the fuse for the 4x4 module and put it back in while the truck is on for the system to reset. Any Ideas what the problem is?

Check the 12 volt motor on the transfer case and the electrical plug on the shift motor for corrosion. You may need a new shift motor.

pretty common thing to happen. shift motors go bad.

for some reason my 06 is still on the original, working flawlessly. outlasted the transfer case itself lol.
