Default Clutch issue - At a Crossroads

Greetings all: Recently I drove my truck, parked it and when I got back in, the clutch decided to no longer work. The pedal depressed with little resistance. The reservoir was low, so I added about a quarter cup (or less) of DOT 3 and when that didn't work, I had it towed. The mechanic says it's the slave cylinder and suggests replacing it and also the master cylinder and the clutch at the same time. I don't know how old the clutch is. The truck has over 200k miles on it. Runs pretty smoothly, no outside body rust but some underneath.
The mechanic wants about $1,400 to do the work (parts included). I like the truck and prefer to keep older things tuned up, but I feel like this job is too pricey to invest in the truck that would barely sell for that much, so I am kind of on the fence. I just checked the Bluebook and they value it closer to $2,300. Don't know if that's accurate or not...
Just looking for thoughts or suggestions. I am beyond the days when I would do a job like this myself.
Thanks in advance.

I bought a slave and master and clutch for less than $300, replaced it myself. The hardest part is obviously dropping the trans to get to slave cylinder. This is a good time to check and replace flywheel or get it turned. New pilot bearing. Price does seem high
But he might be using higher-quality Parts than I did

Thanks. I really cannot do the work myself. The parts had a life-time warranty if that means anything.
