Default 95 ranger dies when depressing the clutch while stopping and engine is cold

I have a 95 ford ranger 4x4 5 speed 4.0L. when downshifting coming to a stop I push down the clutch to pull it out of second gear to roll to a stop it just dies. It starts back up no problem but it continues to do this until the engine starts to warm up. when warm the rpms still drop really low but it doesn't stall. it only does this when stopping. Engine has also had a slight miss since I got the truck, and it now has more of a crackle when down shifting. anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Just need to get atleast one vehicle running and reliable.

I have this same issue in my 99 2.5. It almost always does it on the first stop I come to every morning, after I make that stop it's fine for the rest of the day.

Try your IAC valve. Either clean it or replace.
