are just changing what's in the pan or doing a flush? to get to the filter, just remove bolts slowly and watch for fluid dripping, drain as much fluid as possible with the pan still attached (you might want to loosen bolts on one side of the pan more then another side), remove the pan, remove the filter, put a new filter in, replace the pan, and fill fluid

not really just a little time consuming, and having 2 people would be easier.... drop the pan and change your filter, refill your tranny fluid. What you want to do next is disconnect the feed line from your tranny to your tranny cooler. Take a bucket out and put the line in there (it's a good idea to find an empty container that has a 1 quart capacity, fill the bucket with 1 quart of water, make a line on the inside, fill another quart, make another line, etc.). You want some one to start the truck, let only 1 quart of fluid dump into the bucket (see where those lines came in handy now), shut off the truck after 1 quart and fill the tranny with 1 quart of clean fluid.... keep repeating until you see clean fluid coming out of the line. A better solution would be to take it to a shop and have them machine flush it, but this is a good way as well.
