Talking Brake Hidraulic Cylinder Rebuilding Repacking

My clutch stop working a week ago.Today I can see how the hydraulic brake cylinder rubber packing is broken and the loosenes of the cluth pedal is due to the master cylinder pusrod ring that connets to the clutch pedal pivot is broken. Can you just put a new ring to the clutch master cylinder push rod and attach it again to the clutch pedal pivot? Or I have to install a new clutch master cylinder? Can the brake hydraulic cylinder be repacked?

Default Re: Clutch Pedal Totally Loose to the Floor

Have you crawled under to look? Sounds like either the high pressure line popped off the slave cylinder (the line coming from the master cylinder (which is what the pedal pushes) connects to something on the side of the transmission) Or the slave cylinder broke and isn't doing its job anymore of disengaging the clutch. Is there any fluid in the clutch reservoir, which is on the fender side of the fuse box under the hood.

I'm not sure but I'm just throwing this out there.

Check your pedals to see if they look crooked or can be moved from side to side. If so then your clutch / brake pedal assembly may have worn through or broke.

I did a how to replacing the clutch / brake pedal assembly (located in the how to's) for a friends 2002 Edge.

Just a thought on something to check.

Yes, just crawl under and follow the line that comes out of the clutch master cylinder on the sidewall to the transmission. Its on the driver side of the transmissions bell housing.

If the line blew out as mentioned earlier you may have brake fluid on parts or painted surfaces. if this is the case wash it off right away.

This being said I suspect some sort of mechanical failure as well and you will need to inspect the clutch-pedal assembly. the clutch master cylinder the plastic tubing as mentioned and fluid level.

If your not comfortable with this or working on your vehicle have it towed to a shop you trust.

Going by your PM here is the diagram part number five sounds like the part you need
