My 99 ranger hubs won't unlock. Will it be fine do drive with them locked in or should I either get the live axle swap or manual locking hubs? I need help on this subject.

Most people just swap to manual hubs when the vacuum hubs give them trouble. You could convert to live axle, but that's more involved and more expensive.


No, leaving the hubs lock won't hurt it in the mean time (essentially you've made it "live axle") as long as the tcase is out of 4x4.

I didn't want to mess with the vacuum lines. Most people say they fail plus I didn't want something to snag a likes and the hubs unlock. I just took the caps off and took out the screen so you can push them in and out but for some reason won't come back out. Anything to do about it?

My advice remove the silly vacuum lines, reroute it properly so you can control your vents, and don't get lean codes from the vacuum leak. Then put on manual hubs.
