Sounds like a fuse. I don't remember what one exactly but check the manual. There is also a mechanism that is attached to your break pedal that may need to be replaced (brake shift lock or something like that). This happened once to my f150. its an easy fix. Do your brake lights work??

Yea brake lights work. I have changed the brake light switch on the pedal already but still no go. Do you guys know what the neutral position switch is for?

Thanks for the quick responses

Check all your fuses. It might take 10 min but it could be an easy fix.

Remember there are fuses in the cab and inside the engine bay too.

Do the brake lights work when you are in D driving? I would do what Lord of War said check all fuses.

Had that problem ofter on a F350 we used at work, it was a bake circuit fuse that would blow. The same fuse also controlled the solenoid that allowed you to shift out of park when the brake was pressed.

So to reiterate, check all fuses.

Ok I re-checked all my fuses. #9 was bad. Put a new fuse in it and it worked for a little while but quit working again. Checked the 3rd brake light to see if bulb was bad and it was, so I put a new bulb in it but it still doesn't light up when I hit the brakes, but the other brakes lights do. And I still cannot shift properly.

Thank you guys so much!

You said it worked for a little bit after replacing the fuse does that that mean you keep blowing that fuse? or is that fuse still good and your having the same problem?

Ok just an update... In order to shift, I have to press down really hard on the brake pedal. Is there a way to adjust the brake switch on the brake pedal? Or is this a separate issue?
