Go back to original trans. Run into electronic issues with shifting trying to change.

Probably just do this since you're selling the truck and don't have to worry about it too much more.

I thought the 44 or 55 meant 4 or 5 gears where the 4 or 5 on front was the heavy duty part.

You want a 5 speed for highway driving. Plus your pcm is programmed for a specific trans. You would have to get the entire wiring harness and pcm from donor truck. Assuming your truck had the option to come with the trans; simply put the bell housings I believe the 4r55e and 5r55e had the same bell housing so you could potentially swap those out. But if you're wanting to swap in a new trans I would try to keep it oem simply to keep from having to flash the pcm/swap in a new one and to keep the original shift points. They put that trans in for a certain reason.

I read online that a 5r55e with a pcm programmed for a 4r44e will work as a 4 speed cuz the internals are the same, i would get a 3.0 4r44e but they are almost impossible to find and a rebuild is out of the question cuz its grinding really bad.

We're in about the same area, and there's jys with them everywhere, the ones in Detroit have the best and widest selection!

Close - the first number and letter tell you how many gears, and what drivetrain the trans is. I can't read the code beyond that.
4Rxxx is a 4-speed, Rear wheel drive trans
5Rxxx is a 5-speed, Rear wheel drive trans
5Fxxx is a 5-speed, FRONT wheel drive trans

4R44e and 4R55e are both 4-speed RWD. Beyond that, I don't know the difference.

44E rated 440 ft lbs torque used with 4 cyl and 3.0 v6

55E rated 550 ft lbs torque used with 4.0 v6

E means electronic shift
