Question Steering column

I haven't been on this forum long so sorry if this is the wrong place, but on my steering column the boot covering the u-joint behind my tire is ripped, how hard is it to replace? And should I be worried that it's ripped?

I believe you need to replace the entire intermediate shaft, as the boot is assembled with the joint and it is a "non-servicable" part. The boot on my old truck was ripped but it never seemed to bother anything. Obviously having a boot is better than not, but you can live without it for a while. Just make sure to keep it clean and greased

I love Oreilleys, they have everything Autozone doesn't.

Good to know! Apparently the internet lied to me about needing to replace the whole shaft

Cool Re: Steering column

Lol yes they did, you just need a long extension on a ratchet, one bolt is by the firewall, then the other you have to get under the truck to get to
