I believe you need to replace the entire intermediate shaft, as the boot is assembled with the joint and it is a "non-servicable" part. The boot on my old truck was ripped but it never seemed to bother anything. Obviously having a boot is better than not, but you can live without it for a while. Just make sure to keep it clean and greased
