Default 4.56 regear

I have 28 spline axles with a dana 35 front axle. I'm wanting to regear next summer when I lift and go from 31's to 35's. I've read that I'll have to notch the axle to get the gears in. I was wondering...will it need a LSD for the rear and two sets of 4.56 ring and pinions? And that's all? Or will I need more? I also plan on re packing my wheel bearings and doing new gaskets etc. I'm wondering about main essential parts to regear. Thanks.

How 'handy' are you?

Typically it's a project best left for the "professional" - but if you are up for the task:

You will need a few specialized tools (dial indicator, bearing puller etc.) - but if you already own them, you probably know how they work.

Here is a pretty good write-up. Some of this is axle specific, but many of the general items apply to every gear change: Pirate 4X4 "How-to" - Gear Setup

Here is another random youtube video to see what your up against on the 'easier' axle:

Thanks! I'm pretty handy and also my father probably would be helping me with the lift, regear, etc. He's got all the snapon tools and I don't have a garage yet...I'm still considering to go with 4.56's or just see if I can find a set of axles with 4.10's and a LSD in it already and have them powdercoated them just swap those on and run 35's with 4.10's
