Default Transmission cooler line

hello guys, i have a 2000 ford ranger XLT 4x4 Automatic transmission. I needed to replace my radiator and bought one from amazon. the first 1 they sent me the lower cooler line fit with no problem and the top did not. I cant get the fitting in far enough to even have the threads touch. So spoke to them and they sent me a second 1, in this event neither the top nor bottom fit. So my question is does anyone know what the size of the fitting at the end of the line is? maybe that way i can check to make sure they are sending me the right radiator with the correct female size on the cooler? Thank you in advance

The radiator on all 3.0L and 4.0L Rangers are the same part # from 1998-2011.
The radiator on smaller engines is different (trans. cooler on other side), and so is 1997 & older.

Click INFO on any radiator listed here, and it says your 2000 Ranger rad TOC fitting is 3/8" flare:
http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=2172

Fwiw, the older 1997 radiator had a 5/8"-18 UNF fitting.

ok, i have been searching for the size on the spectra cu2310 that i bought and i cant find it anywhere. so i sent a few emails, as now is too late to call anyone...and ill see if at least it matches with the 3/8 flared. if it does then i dont no where the problem lies...im not the original owner of truck but the lines look original so i dont understand why it wouldnt fit

If you need to change it, they do sell connectors (eg, http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...parttype=13058 ).

Did you measure it? Like this?

no i did not measure it like that, nor do i have that tool...i guess i can use a scale to measure it, and see what i get. the spectra manufacture is closed so i will have to wait till monday to see what they say the size of their fitting is.

Cvar, when u measured it, what did u get? 3/8 also?

That VERY handy "vernier caliper" tool is available at many hardware stores. Metal ones are $10. Plastic ones are $3. Get one.

If you click on the photo (to enlarge it) you can easily read the size as 5/8", because mine is 1997, which is different than your 1998+ radiator. That's why I said mine was 5/8"-18 (ie, 18 threads per inch). You need to measure yours.
