Hi posting for my sister she just called and told me her truck is stuck in reverse. I think it is an 08, it is a 2wd 5 speed with the 3.0 engine. She says she can move the stick into the other gears but it wont get outta reverse. Might be from cold as park brake froze a month ago and wouldn't release till we unthawed it.

The shifting fork may have broken off, or the shifter got out of the shifting gate, you could pull the shifter, look down in the hole with a good light, and using a large screwdriver, slide the rev rail back into the natural gate. Then reinstall the shifter and see if it works, if not then something is wrong inside.

Likely shift fork. Will be a fun drive to the shop backwards but shouldn't be terribly expensive. Should be able to do it with the transmission in the truck.

That would make sense, I called her and told her to get my dad to give it a try. He went outside and wanted to try to drive it once more before he started working on it as it was backed out of the driveway and now on the curb. Somehow it is driving forward again. Now I'm really confused why would it start working again. She's worried that it is gonna happen again when she is not close to home.
