Try this video.
Here are some diagrams that might help. https://www.google.com/search?q=1994...ml%3B582%3B338 If you get stuck again try to google 1994 Ford Ranger timing belt installation, that is where I got those from. I hope they help.
Mike.

IIRC:

Take the tensioner assembly and place the bolt and spring on it. Then put it on the block with the spring arms in the right position on the metal stud on both the block and the tensioner arm.

To do this you will need to start with the tensioner arm a little more counter-clockwise than it is suppose to be. In other words the adjustment hole for the adjustment bolt won't be lined up with the block yet.

Then force the tensioner clockwise using a prybar. I usually take my prybar and put the end across the oil pump pulley and have the tensioner pulley resting on the middle of the pry bar.

Push it in to where you can get the adjustment bolt it. Once its in you can take a break or go ahead and force the tenioner all the way clockwise and then tighten down the adjustment bolt to hold it in place so the belt can go on.

As for getting the timing right:

Start with looping the belt around the crankshaft pulley first and move counter clockwise ending with all the slack at the tensioner. Crankshaft pulley---->oil pump pulley-->camshaft pulley-->hold slack at tensioner.

Release tensioner bolt to let the tensioner spring against the belt then tighten the bolt back down to hold in place.

I just did my timing belt. I hated the tensioner and was concerned about using a crow bar. Then I noticed I had this Craftsman clamp in the garage. 6" bar clamp with cusioned grip. http://www.sears.com/craftsman-6-inc...adCell=pvt_1_2

Just connect this clamp to the bottom of the tensioner and the top of the spring and crank it in. I really works and the ends of the clamp are rubber so it shouldn't hurt the tensioner. I think this is safer than a crowbar.
