4x4 vs 4x4low
O my understanding, put it in 4x4 high, both differentials get power. I put it in 4x4 low, both get locked, all 4 wheels get power. Is this right? And what are the rules with using 4 wheel drive? I only use it when 2 wheel wont get me there, so far only getting in and out of my dads driveway

No...that's not how 4lo works. The low stands for low range as in low gearing

no. You should never make sharp turns in 4 wheel. And low range isnt for on street use

go off road where there is no pavement and lock it in 4 wheel drive, and make sure the front end is locked in. And try to turn sharp. You will feel your truck kind of jump/jerk. I can on mine because of the tires. Don't do that where you get full traction like on roads, etc you can snap an axle.

Re: 4x4 vs 4x4low
4Hi is for situations like snow on the road or general trail riding. 4low is for those situations you really got get through an obstacle off-road (deep mud or snow). I've only had to use 4low at certain spots where I know I've gotten stuck before. 4low is also good for recovery.

Re: 4x4 vs 4x4low
Agree ^. I'll toss it in 4hi on the beach or in snow if I'm anywhere from 10-20 mph. I've used 4lo when I know I'm stuck and or I'm pulling someone out. Definitely if I'm stuck in mud I'm going to 4lo. Also when I go to 4lo, I'll toss it in fwd and accelerate minimal then in reverse before I get on it.

Re: 4x4 vs 4x4low
I've heard rule of thumb is... only use 4lo when you are "stuck" ... in snow/ice/mud...
Pretty much anything else, 4hi
And say you are stuck and use 4lo to get out... keep the rev's lower (don't be flooring it) and speed lower (less than 20mph or so) and once you are un-stuck, shift OUT of 4lo and go to 4hi or 2wd.

Re: 4x4 vs 4x4low
I will also use 4 lo if I'm going up or down a steep hill. Going up steep hills, it maximizes the engine's low end power. Going down hill, it holds you back without you having to ride the brakes.
