Default 4x4 Concern

Hi Everyone,

So my control mod went out on my ranger and the part has to be ordered, it should be here mid-late week. Right now my truck is locked into 4x4 High. I shouldn't need to use it to much this week, but would it be ok to take around town if needed? Luckily I live in the Northeast, so we have some snow, but my concern is on the dry pavement. Would it be an issue taking it to the shop when the part comes in? Its about 3-4 miles away. Just want to try to avoid doing damage..

I think you'll be fine. I mean just don't go over 50 with it and don't make the truck jump so much on the sharp turns and you'll be fine

Drive it as little as possible. Don't go on the free way. If you drive it on pavement without snow or ice your just asking for something to bind and break. If it were my truck the only time I'd drive it would be to the shop.

Pop the motor off the transfer case and put it in 2 wheel drive... it'll take about 30 minutes a socket set and a pair of pliers
