Default Squawk

My name is Rich and I am about to fix up my ranger. It sat for the better part of two years only being used occasionally. It has 121k and right now I am tring to diagnose a "squawk" when I let out the clutch (especially under load when It's cold) . I have been led to believe by a true back yard guru that it is the throw out bearing. When I pop the clutch (not that I sometimes beat on my truck) There is no slippage and the 3.0 spins the 215/75/15 with no problem. how long do I have (if I dont keep popping the clutch) before I can't get it into a gear? What symptoms should I look (listen) for?
