Default Help with manual transmission

Hi forum,

I have an 88 Ranger 2.0 manual transmission in unbelievably good gondition. Just Got it in August for 600$.

I did all maintenance on it, fluids, oil, spark plugs etc. Runs smooth.

In the past month or so my manual trany started to act up.

Sometimes (quite often recently) it won't go into gear. First I thought the clutch does not disengage properly. I did a test on it to put it in gear out and back in again to see if the main shaft is turning but it does go in.

Hovever if I release the clutch and press it again it won't go in gear anymore.

In brief it only goes into gear with engine off.

Are there any adjustments in this gearbox or I am in for new syncronizers.

It just feel funny that it was not doing this in August and all I did is replace gear oil and the shifter's ball assembly. (Shifter repair kit)
..and of course I did not abuse it.

Thank you in advance

Does it have a hydraulic clutch? If so, I'd first suspect either master cylinder or slave cylinder is to blame.

If hydraulic is involved it may have a peep hole with it up have a friend push on clutch pedal while you watch the slave cylinder. If not hydraulic same thing clutch going out is what it sound like

Thank you.

It does have hydraulic clutch. I agree that the issue may be there. Sometimes, mostly when engine warm, I clutch and it won't come out of gear.

I am going to flush the fluid witch does not look too good BTW, and start from there.

I'll get back once I have more news.
