Default Bad Flywheel need to engage starter

So I just bought a 1986 Ranger XLT for 2k$ with 60k miles on it. It was a snowbirds car and sat around a lot so it had some issues. Little basic things that are adding up. (5k$ so far) Well this weekend I threw a few teeth on the flywheel outside of a mechanics shop, coincidentally. He looked at it, told me what it was and got it to engage allowing me to drive it home (He said he doesn't do big jobs anymore) Anyways long story short I need this thing to drive for another 2 weeks before I can get the Flywheel replaced. I know there's a trick to getting the starter to grab some good teeth to get it turned over, I just need to know how to do it? It's been a while since I've worked on an engine, I faintly remember being able to use a wrench to turn the crankshaft via the belts up front, but I don't wanna go cranking away at my engine and screw something up... and don't tell me it's a lost cause and to sell it bc I'd rather put 10k$ into this truck before I got rid of her. We've bonded.

There is a bolt in the center of the crankshaft. You need a socket I think it is 19 mm a little extension and a ratchet. Turn the engine clock ways just a little if you hit a bad spot it the flywheel. The flywheels on those older Rangers did that alot

Turning the engine by hand is the only way, unless you want to remove the starter, use a large screrwdriver in that hole to turn it, then reinstall the starter. And turning the engine by hand won't screw anything up.

X2 spin it over with a socket and pry bar/ratchet. Our tugs at work have the 300 I6 and they grind teeth a lot sometimes depending how bad the teeth are you can run the starter a bit to get it to good enough teeth to start.
