Default Front Bearing or CV joint failure

Hey all, I think this thread is in the right place...

I'm not sure if I have failing bearing or a bad CV joint...

When driving straight down the road I hear a squeaking noise, and sometimes feel a vibration below my left foot and feel it in the steering wheel. When I turn right, it vibrates and starts to thump. When I turn left I can hear a metal squeaking noise.

Is this a bearing or cv joint failing? If it's the bearing, the whole hub assembly has to be replaced, correct? If I've left anything else out, please let me know.

well, going by your mileage listed in your sig, it could be either of the 2. and if youre going to go through the trouble of replacing one of the parts, you may as well replace both, because either way, you pretty much have to remove the one to get to the other

and you are correct, the hub and bearing is one assembly and is non serviceable (thanks ford)

Yeah, I know I should replace both of them, and both sides even, but I can't afford to do that.

Anyone else have any idea of which it may be. I really need to fix this, but I can't afford to go and replace both.

If I had to guess I would say your bearings. A CV usually won't just go out from normal driving but you never know

The CV joint boots aren't split, so that is kinda making me think bearings as well.
