back end shakes when i press the brake
hello everyone, i am new here and am hoping to get some answers that other people couldnt tell me.
i bought a 1997 2.3L ranger xlt. it needed some parts, like brakes front and back and other general parts.
So i put in the brakes in the back(and it has been doing this since the old brakes) and when i lightly press the brake pedal down it shakes and jumps around quite a bit. it seem like it does it more when its warm. i checked the brakes out numerous times and everything is working right in the drums. also it only does it when i brake. so i am stumped on this problem. i am hoping i could get some feedback on this issue.
Thanks

Re: back end shakes when i press the brake
Is it possible that the back brakes arent adjusted correctly and they are grabbing way to hard where the front brakes should actually be doing the majority of the work? I don't have a clue, I'm just taking a guess here.

Re: back end shakes when i press the brake
Two possibilies, a warped drum or drums or brake residue on the braking surface.

Re: back end shakes when i press the brake
Beyond me then, it is possible that one of the new drums is bad but if you had the problem before, you sure it isn't from the front? Warped front brakes won't necessarily cause the steering to wobble...

Maybe a loose backing plate? Also check all the u bolts on the axle, make sure everything is mounted solidly.
