Default First Post! 1993, 2.3 Engine, Manual Tranny With Lost Power

So first off, heya everyone! I'm new to the site and to forums in general, and in depth technical stuffs, so bear with me if I don't do everything like I'm supposed to.

I have a 1993 Ranger EXT named Vertigo with a 2.3 and a 2wd 5 speed manual transmission.
Some background on the truck and the situation-
I love my Ranger more than anything else I've got. I used to run it against other small trucks and rice-burners and such, topped out around 94mph and would beat Mustangs off the line on a good night. A few weeks ago the slave cylinder blew, and, it being an internal problem, I took it to a shop suggested by my father. They were told to replace the slave cylinder and new clutch kit (said it would only be $100 more, so why not?). A week (and $740) later it was ready to pick up and I was extremely excited to get back behind the wheel and drive my beat up baby. When I started it up, it sounded like the exhaust had been cut off in front of the cab (which was actually just a bolt they forgot to replace on the manifold). Now lies the real problem...

The real problem was discovered when I went to take off- in first it literally was just inching forward trying to drive it like I used to. I realized that the engine seemed to be revving normally, but the power it was putting out was much lower than before. I was extremely aggravated by this point, but I had to get to work, so I got out on the highway and became furious when, doing 40mph, I put the pedal to the floor in third and was hardly accelerating AT ALL. The same occurred with my fourth gear, and I found myself merging into 65mph traffic at 50mph (keep in mind this is with the pedal down TO THE FLOOR). I drove 15 miles to work in fourth gear, never hitting 70 with the pedal down.

I took it back to the shop the next day, but they said the lost power had to be something to do with the engine, not the transmission. I know for a fact that it is the tranny because the engine ran it fine before they worked on it and when I put it down I've noticed a slight shake- maybe a clutch slippage? Also, after driving it for a time, I can smell what I can only describe as "Transmission." I'm scared to stop on an incline because I might not be able to start back up it. Please, somebody help me out!!!

If the trans shifts ok, and is quiet, not likely to be anything wrong with it, maybe they knocked the ox sensor off, or broke the wires.
