Default Replaced clutch pieces and have questions

Hi , i had someone replace my clutch disc , slave cylinder and a few other things because the guy said they were really bad , due to the previous driver starting off i only had this truck for a little while

Anyways , he told me not to replace the origional flywheel because its still good , and he said now with new parts and the old flywheel that its gonna take a little while for the shifting to loosen up

My biggest thing is , he told me for right now if i want to go into reverse to put it in first then reverse to loosen up the gears , but right now when i try to put it in reverse it grinds and he told me that its going to grind until it gets loose enough that it will no longer grind

So he is telling me once i go into reverse and if i hear grinding to keep holding it and then it will go into reverse , is it just me and i dont know to much about manual vehicles but does this sound right , to me i would think that it would mess up my new clutch disc and or clutch

Please someone let me know if this guy is right or wrong

I just did a clutch change and it isn't doing that. There are indeed times that you have to put the transmission into first before putting it into reverse for the gears to mesh but there should not be any grinding.

The fact that there is is telling me that the clutch is not fully disengaging. There maybe air in the clutch line or there is something wrong with the new clutch cylinder.

Take it back to where you had the work done and have them fix it. The line may need bled or it may need more.

Well it doesn't help that this is my first manual vehicle so I don't know what's wright and wrong , so based on what the guy said even though the origional flywheel is on there and mixed with the new parts that it should definitly not be grinding , right ?

Do you know were on the vehicle is the line to check to see if there is air in the line and or not enough liquid in the line

I got told today by someone i know that has been driving stick shift vehicles for a long time that , sounds like either the air in the line or he said about the cables not being connected properly , which i meantion regarding air in the line wouldnt that make all the gears bad , im able to shift 1,2,3,4,5 its tight of course but other then that no griding getting into those gears at all

Im not sure if this is also helpfull at all , but the other day before i started driving it , i put it into reverse and it didnt grind and i got it going in reverse but once i started driving it farther and more then it wouldnt go into gear all i kept hearing was the grinding

Someone told me the reason i was able to get it into reverse easily is because the gears werent moving much yet , so if that helps determine the problem , would go into reverse when it was sitting but once started driving and engine got hot then it would no longer go into gear

The bleed valve is accessed through the bell housing behind the clutch. Look for where the line from the master cylinder comes down and goes into the transmission. The bleeder works just like the ones on the brakes do.

Be careful bleeding though, the reservoir is tiny and will empty quickly. If you have someone to help you, it will make things go much better. It is very easy to accidentally empty the reservoir and introduce more air into the system.

ok but if there was air in the line then shoudlnt no gears work at all , like i said 1 through 5 work fine , so unless im wrong how could there be air in the line if the other gears work fine

I was told that the synchronizing or something could be wrong , i just dont understand why reverse worked fine and once this ahole looked at it now i got problems , unless i never want to go in reverse ever again

Monday im bringing it by a transmission place and its a free inspection to find out what it wrong , cause now im starting to get very pissed off , ive had to get a replacement engine for this and now a tranny , i feel like giving up and selling it for whatever i can because im fed up with the truck lately

Not necessarily. It depends on how much air is in the lines. It is also possible that the master cylinder is going bad and allowing "blow by" past the cylinder seal(s).
