Help! Hydraulic Clutch Issue...

Hey y'all I'm new here, but I need some help with my 85 Ranger, I'm in the middle of replacing the clutch/flywheel and...
1985 Ranger 2WD 2.3 w/ code 5 (Toyo Koygo) 5 spd. trans. In the process of installing the new clutch and got to the disconnect the slave cylinder part.
The slave cylinder connection seems to be on top of the bell housing, nearly impossible to get to, with what appears to be a heavy wire loop, possibly a retaining ring, near the connection. There also appears to be a disconnect attached to the master cylinder, but with no "white ring" in evidence. This device is approximately 1" in diameter and about 2 1/2" - 3" long. Looks like it should cone apart about 5/8" back from where it connects to the master cylinder. Manual is no help, no pictures, and a simple "remove clip and pull line out" description. Been wrenching cars for many years, but this one has me stumped! Can anyone help?
