I want a 5 speed behind a 302 in my ranger
I have seen lots of post regarding a whole exploder for engine swaps for the anemic 4 bangers. However I'm the idiot that loves to shift gears (had waaay too many issues with autos in past). So I have searched on here and found nothing in regards to a 5 speed behind the multitude of V8 conversions.
So that leads me to this question, what kind of 5 speed bolts up in the rangers? I assume the stock spot in the floor will have to be patched and a new cut in am I correct?
And is the 8.8 exploder rear worthy of daily use? I know they came in V8 exploders, And I like the idea of 4 wheel disc brakes in a ranger.
My idea of a V8 conversion would have not more than 300 horse and 350 torque. Yes I'm being conservative with power because I've had my fun with high powered cars, and I don't need to kill myself with tons of power.
I know early mustang T5's were rated for 300 ft lbs tq, and 94-95's were rated for 330 tq. So which is the best on to use?
Anyone swapped a V8 & 5 speed?
Thanks in advance.
Jeremy
