Default replaced trans, still not shifting right

Had a friend with trans prob, 98 2.5 Auto..wouldnt go into 4th gear, or od he said. I'm doing a 5.0 swap so I sold him mine, 98 2.5 auto..I have never had any problems, ever. Now his truck shakes in park he says, and slips bad around 40-50mph. Is there anything that could be causing this besides the transmission? I feel bad, but I know the trans I sold is solid, just looking for other possible causes.

Says it won't go into overdrive and is shakey. Exact same problem as before. Anyone have any ideas?

That's really weird. Are you sure this isn't an engine issue? Is the check engine light on? I could see a flex plate being cracked causing shaking, but that wouldn't explain the no od issue. Pcm or wiring issue might cause no od but can't see that causing a shake especially in park w/o the truck moving. Did he use your torque converter or his old one? Did he make sure it was properly seated before installing the trans?

We think we figured it out..looks like its likely the coil packs. Going to try my old ones after work to see if thats it. After googling the prob, multiple people had his exact problem when the coils were to blame.
