There doesn't need to be a how-to on taking a drive shaft off. It's so straight forward even a caveman can do it. For a front shaft, it's 4 torx head screws on the pinion side and six 8mm head bolts on the output side, then the whole front shaft is out. I highly suggest getting rid of those torx head screws and getting allen head screws. I've had a torx bit break in half and get stuck inside the screw head a few times before.

I think it's a T30 torx.

What what seal are you replacing??? "Tranny case shaft seal" is a WHAT!??

That pic is a 2wd transmission output seal. I can also tell by the 2wd slip yoke shaft. That pic ain't your truck is it?

And the seal that's linked says right on it....transfer case output seal. Which happens to be the same seal as both trans output seal, tcase input seal, and tcase output. Same seal for all 3 locations. And replacing it has nothing to do with a front shaft. Rear shaft's gotta come off. The front of the rear shaft needs unbolted at minimum.

haha its all good, ya i read that, so im guessing take off rear driveshaft, drain t-case fluids, and replace seal? so is the fluid thats showing up on that pic running from the back of t-case down the front driveshaft and onto that spot?

You need to give us a pic of where it's leaking. What your saying makes no sense what so ever. It wont leak out of the tcase, then dribble and find it's way forward 4 feet to the front shaft. You sure you're not talking about the front axle's pinion seal??? Still...you're showing me transmission, saying tcase, yet also saying front shaft leaking from there.

The pic you posted is showing just a leaky 2wd output seal.

yeah..... Front pinion seal. Remove shaft completely, remove pinion flange(believe its a 32mm socket or a 1 1/4 or 1 1/8), pull out old seal, gently hammer new one in, slide on flange and buzz on nut, done. If you dont have an impact, dont even try. Nuts on there very very tight.

just let it leak. If it is not a bad leak then just let it be. Front pinions leaks are very common on rangers. Mine has looked like that for years, but it is to the point where it doesn't leak enough to even drop any fluid on the ground
