Does anyone happen to know if there is a way to put locking hubs on the front of a 2000 ford ranger 4x4 with the independent front suspension with cv axles. would there be a way to putting locking hubs on them.

Um, I'm sure there is...for a cost, but why would you want too? You have a live axle if I remember right, which is always locked in and way more reliable then the locking hubs. Find FX4Wannabe (Shane) he would probably know the answer to this better than me.

Even with manual locking hubs both tires won't spin at the same time if you're stuck. If you have a welded/locked front differential then you will get a constant spinning of both tires at all times when engaged in 4x4. If you have a 2000 ranger you have Pulse Vacuum Hubs which are trash but if you have a 2000.5 you have a live axle, no PVH hubs. Simplest way to check is just taking off your center cap on a wheel and seeing what is there. They do make a manual locking hubs if you indeed have PVH hubs they are made by AVM/Rugged Ridge I have some on my truck and they work much better than the garbage PVH hubs which always tend to leak when you need them most.

I got mine here

Cool thanks 99offraodrngr i don't think those would work though because i have the live axle front end with the nut for the axles behind the cap. So i don't think those hubs would work on my front end.

Just bought a set of Rugged Ridge locking hubs for my '98. ($188-Summit Racing) The automatics never worked right, especially when i really need them.
