Default Brake problems

So for the past couple weeks I've been having brake problems. The pedal feels really soft and the truck takes a while to brake. Today going out of work it felt worse than usual. So I sped up to about 30 and slammed on the brakes. Every time I would do it the brakes would work better. I did that about 10 times and I was able to lock up all 4 wheels. I don't remember the last time I did that. I also got a burning smell from the passenger front brake, and only that Brake. What could be causing this? I did this in the morning and when I parked or for a few hours and drove it again it was back to really soft pedal and horrible braking. So I did the hard braking like 10 times and it started braking really good again. Could it be air in the lines?

Even if the pedal feels really soft? I thought if the booster was bad the pedal would be hard

True either that or a bad master cylinder

This is in no way meant to be a smart ass but did you check your brake fluid?

A friend had the exact same problem on an 05 silverado and it turned out to be his master cylinder. Was the one you bought rebuild?

I work at an auto part store and usually these "rebuild" ones don't last very long. I've had customers bring them back the same day cuz they still didn't work or because literally the cylinder had a crack in it. Where did you buy it?

Autozone, I'm gonna replace it and install my rear steel braided lines

----------

I'm starting to think it is the master. Because when I would do the whole stomping it would affect all tires. Not just the rear or front.

Ok, so if you still have warranty on the part, you can just pay the difference to buy the new. Which should just be more or less $15

Yeah that's what I'm gonna do. So coming home from work today it was the same thing, super soft pedal. Stepped on the brakes and boom great brakes again. I'm pretty positive it's gonna have to be the master. Hopefully I have the time to replace it today

It feels good being able to lock up 33s haha
