Default engine/tranny swap from 95 to 93

Hi, new to the forum. I love my ranger and would like to keep it a while longer. Just trying to find out if I can fix my 93 ranger. My overdrive is gone. The neighbor has a wrecked 95 ranger(40k miles) with exact same engine(4.0) and transmission code T(stamped on the door). Will the 95 engine and tranny fit in my 93? And is there any modifications I need to make? Thanks.

ps: how long could I drive my ranger without OD? I don't need OD but the lockup doesn't happen which is a pain.

the transmission should swap. the engine long block is the same, but you may need to pull all the sensors/wiring off your old motor and put on the new. 93 was obd I and 95 was the year they started going to obd II.

Maybe I can throw some more information out about the overdrive problem and maybe it can be fixed without alot of $$$. I was heading up to rt80 from Harrisburg, PA. About a 1/2 hour out a road troll was hogging the passing lane. Of course he needed passed so I jammed the accelerator and zoomed past. When the OD kicked back in I heard a distinct clunk sound...right away I stored the moment away thinking this is going to cost me. About an hour later after going over all the mountains I was just getting onto rt 80. Then out of no where I heard what sounded like my truck going over rumble strips...then no OD. I stopped to check things out...like fluid spilling out or smoke...nothing. I looked and saw the tranny fluid was full and the right color. Well, no OD, I can live with that. But after going just a bit I noticed I had no lockup. When coasting down a hill the engine returns to idle. I can live withou OD but the lockup is a pain. Isn't the lockup done by the torque converter. How is the OD related to the lockup? I've since put 1500 miles on it without hearing any bad sounds. Any ideas on the lockup problem as it relates to OD?
