Leaking fluid
Hey I got a leak from behind my oil pan and in front of my transmission. I am not sure what it is leaking oil or tranny fluid. I honestly think it is transmission fluid because it is not thick like oil. And i notice sometimes I have a hard time shifting into 2nd. So i think it might be transmission fluid. I will get pictures of it and post it. But what could possible be leaking? And this is a 5 speed Manual

Re: Leaking fluid
dont use that stuff, it expands and softens not only the rear main, but every seal your oil touches in the motor. Only fix is to drop the trans and replace it.

Yeah that is what my Teacher said.. I would drop the trans and fix it but I do not have a lift and a trans jack so it will make everything a lot harder laying on the ground.

Re: Leaking fluid
I'ts either the rear main, the tranny front, or something else is leaking and gravity and windage are moving the oil to where you see it. If you can't pinpoint the source, you're just going to have to wash it off then drive and look for the wet spot. Bad leak would show pretty quick, slow leak, you might have to look avery 10 - 40 miles; only you can determine this.
Shop teacher is right, that stop leak crap softens all seals it touches; yeah it may stop a leak but now with all seals softened they are more vulnerable to damage and catastrophic failure. BTW that high mileage oil that the manufactures think everyone needs to use when the vehicle hit's 75,000 miles, it's got that chit in it, don't ever use that stuff.

Re: Leaking fluid
It might be my drain plug leaking. I bought a new one and going too see if that is it. Because i notice oil is around the ring of the drain plug so it might not be making a good seal.
