Default lockers

anyone know any lockers i can put on my truck? 7.75 with 410 gearing.
i dont wanna lincoln locker cause i dont like how itll wear your back tires down faster.

also i looked at the tire guide and it says that if i were to go up to 32's id get better gas mileage? i have the stock tires on.

i dont think you can get a full locker for a 7.5, i may be wrong though. i know that ford racing offers a l/s for the 7.5 as does i think powertrax. if you throw in a 8.8 you'd have a ton more options

Limited slip defined

Quote:
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in angular velocity of the output shafts, but imposes a mechanical bound on the disparity. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
Quote:
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is shown by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely—the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, and thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use, such as driving in mud, off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the angular velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some traction available on at least one of the wheels.

did you check the tag on the rear axle?
a L/S is good if you do mild offroading and don't need both wheels 100% locked. if you do need both locked, i would suggest getting an 8.8 rear and throwing in an eaton e-locker or even an ARB air locker. that way you can drive with an open diff on the street and get that differential action, then when you off road, itll be 100% locked.

Any full time locker will cause fast wear on your rear tires. So as stated above, if set on a locker, and e-locker or air locker would be the best bet since you could lock the diff when needed.

From a look at Auburn's options and ARB's options there is nothing for the 7.5, only the 8.8 and Dana axles.

you can pull an 8.8 out of a 4x4 ranger with 4.10 gears, its a direct swap, just unbolt old, bolt on new. i dont think there are air lockers or an e-locker for the 7.5, which is partly why the 8.8 swap is so popular
