Default 4X4 help

My 1994 xlt 4x4 has manual locking hubs, So I went out and locked them and pressed my 4x4 button and heard a ticking coming from behind my seat, That is the moduel getting the 4x4 signal from the dash button but I don't think it engages because the 4x4 light doesn't come on and I don't feel the 4x4 working i need help please

Most likely, it's the shift motor on the transfer case that has problems. Bad motor (<<<Very high odds of this one) or maybe not getting voltage signal.

I would try this too. Mine did the same thing and I took off my shift motor and took it apart and cleaned it up. Then I put it back together and reinstalled it and it works fine now.

Later shift motors, *maybe* 2000+, seldom seize/corrode/fail like the early ones. Best thing anyone can do to discourage this is to engage 4WD once a month, don't let a little corrosion take hold and surprise you when you really need and are counting on using that 4WD.

It's not too hard. To take it off you basically unclip a wire harness, cut another wire, unbolt like 5 bolts I think, then it's off. Then what I did was leave the clynoid alone( the circular tube part of the shift motor) then unbolt the other have I think like 3 more screws. Clean it out with a rag real good. Put it back together and put some grease back in it and put it back on like you took off. I believe there is a thread on here on how to do this but I'm not too sure it might be on another forum. If you have any more questions just ask.
