4r44e jerk when shifting 2-3
Recently after a fluid change (just dropped pan and replaced filter), my truck shifts hard from 2-3, and jerks. 1-2 and 3-od are smooth as butter. The hard shifting occurs from 1/3 throttle and on. If I let off the throttle to less than 1/3 before the shift, it is fine.
No codes, not even pending.
Suggestions?

Hmmm. Did you make sure the oring was on the filter? Did you Use the right fluid. Is it at the proper fluid level?

Orings in place, Mercon V as recommended, I checked the fluid the other day and it is so hard to read but it was right on the top of the hash mark.

Re: 4r44e jerk when shifting 2-3
I need to close this issue out in order to help others with a similar problem:
After fighting with trying to read the tip stick better (checking atf not as easy as checking oil, not a clean line), I tried a solution that my friend suggested. I kept having fluid all along the dipstick past the hatch marks but it looked like it was just scrapping some from the inside of the tube.
He told me to wipe it off and spray on brake cleaner to get rid of any oilly film and to dry out the dipstick. He said even when you wipe the dipstick sometimes oil can easily float on the remaining film left behind.
Doing this gave me a really clean cut way above the hash marks. YIKES! So I siphoned about a 1/2 a quart from the tube and checked again and got it right in the middle of the hash. Unhooked the battery for 30 mins and then took her for a spin.
Problem solved.

Hmmm maybe I need to try this. My truck shifts real hard from 1-2 and fine all other gears. It will like slam itself into second. Not all the time but it does it enough.

Well I could still feel it when the truck warms all the way up. Better just not all the way gone.
Today I adjusted the intermediate band (never been adjusted in 200k miles) and it feels like that got it perfect again almost new feeling.

No you do it all from the outside of the transmission. Just don't loosen that stud too far or the band will unhook and you will be in trouble.
That guy just had his transmission out and showing internally what it's doing.

Re: 4r44e jerk when shifting 2-3
Here are the steps:
Set your ebrake (important)
Look at the drivers side of transmission and you will see your shift linkage connecting to the neutral safety switch.
This linkage and safety switch blocks the intermediate (closest to the rear) band adjustment stud.
To remove them first loosen the 22mm nut on the safety switch. Do this first so that the lever doesn't move when loosening it.
Then place the truck in neutral and pop off the eyelet for the shift linkage (it just pops off toward the drivers side.)
Then pinch the black tangs of the shifter cable (these tangs are on the rear side of the bracket) and push the cable towards the front to get it free.
Now you can unbolt the arm on the safety switch all the way and remove the solid shifter arm.
Unscrew the 2 8mm bolts holding the NSS in place and gently pry the switch off the shaft. Take your time this NSS is pressed on. Try not to have the shaft rotate out of neutral.
Once it is loose I just swing the NSS (still connected to the harness) up and onto the transmission out of the way.
Grab a 19mm combination wrench and put it on the lock nut around the stud and place a 5/16" 8 point socket on the square tip of the stud to hold it in place (to hold it in place set the wrench to tighten) and then loosen the locknut about 5 turns.
Grab a inch/lbs torque wrench and set it to 120 in/lbs and tighten the stud until it clicks. I overtightened mine on purpose and back it out and then retorqued it to get a better reading.
I grabbed a sharpie and marked the locknut and the part of the transmission where the locknut meets to reference how many turns I backed off. Rotate the stud back 2 full turns. The locknut should rotate back with the stud and you can count the two turns using your marks.
Set your wrench to loosen for the stud (to keep it from tightening) and use the 19mm combination wrench to tighten the lock stud down.
Do the same for the other adjustment stud.
Place the neutral safety switch back onto the shaft and use an appropriate socket to press the switch back on the shaft. Notice that the inside of the NSS has 2 keys and make sure these slide the keyways of the shifter shaft. I used the 22mm socket earlier to tap (with a hammer) the switch back in applying pressure to the white plastic ring.
Before you bolt the NSS down you need to align it. Your truck should not have moved from neutral (it needs to be in neutral, I mean neutral at the transmission not just the shifter on the column).
There is a find line on the white ring and it needs to be lined up with the mark on the black body of the NSS. This calibrates the NSS to neutral. Once the NSS is rotated for these marks to line up you can bolt her down.
Put the arm back on and tighten the 22mm nut down (may shift your truck into 1st while doing this) Just move the arm back how many clicks it moved.
Slide the linkage back into the bracket and pop the eyelet back on.
Then move your shifter (on the column) back and forth and make sure it moves fine.
Your good.
If it doesn't start your NSS isn't lined up correctly.
