Default How do I remove play from my clutch pedal?

1998 Ranger 2.5L

My clutch pedal is only about 5.5" from the floor and there is a lot of play in it. To get it to engage I need to press it all the way to the floor.

Thanks in advance for any help

Thats odd. It should be hydraulic so there's not a cable to adjust or anything. Did you check the fluid in the master cylinder? On my 92 its mounted on the firewall just above the brake master cylinder. It's a little bigger than a film canister, though it may be different on your truck...

It's black? Did you open it or just look through the side? Cause there's a black rubber vapor barrier in there...

If it is black then somethings up and you're gona need to change it.

Sounds like you need to bleed the clutch hydraulic system. You need to pull the boot out of the reservoir to put fluid in there.
