Default Will this differential work in my truck??

I am looking to put a LS on my truck.
It is a 2000 with a 3.0, 5speed 4x4.

I've been reading up and getting mixed reviews if this will work. Sort of new to the whole, open vs. LS vs. Locker.

Think this will work good for me on the road and help out A LOT off road.

What's yall thoughts??

That setup won't work.

That's for the 31 spline axle. You have the 28 spline version.

Do you know of a similar product that has 28 spline?

How does your powertrax no-slip do??

Great, but its not a l/s. It's a locker.

I've posted information over the years. Search using my username and something should popup about the no-slip.

If you want a l/s setup, I would look for s helical gear driven unit - not a clutch pack setup like the Ford unit was.

The gear driven ones don't wear out like the clutch ones can.

Okay thanks. Very lost in what to look for when looking them up. I'll need to do a lot more reading up..... Know I want l/s but don't know by who or what size and all.

No worries.

Going off of memory, I believe Auburn makes a nice helical gear driven l/s setup for the 8.8 (assuming that's what you have).

The 2002 FX4 and 2003+ FX4 level II rangers came with the Torsen limited slip differential. It's a helical driven l/s. It actually multiplies the torque from the slipping wheel and sends it to the wheel that isn't spinning. Much better system than the clutch pack. The one that came on rangers were 31 spline because of the axle. Torsen also makes a 28 spline version.
